Mullens W.Va:
Three N.C. men have been accused of illegally bow hunting deer with treestands in a state park.
Scott Jarvis of Mebane NC, Russell Wiley of Summerfield, NC and his brother, Rocky Wiley of Kernersville, NC were cited for illegall hunting by a CO on friday and released, said Scott Durham, superintendent of the Twinn Falls Resort State Park near Mullens. The trio also were cited for illegally riding atv's in the park.
CO 1st Class Tennis Cook with the DNR saw the men allegedly bow hunting friday morning about 1/4 mile inside the park, Durham said.
Durham said the men claimed they did not know they were within park boundaries, which are marked with signs. They did have NR hunting licenses...

Good to see the CO's on top of this. That is one thing that is a definitely a NO NO...hunting on State Parks is illegal!
A neighbor boy, well not a boy...he was 18 at the time...got in trouble for hunting on Babcock State Park...and what is worse he lied about it when approached by the Park Ranger. And even worse, he shot a deer but it was never found.
He was ticketed and his bow was confiscated. Once he paid the fine he was allowed to get his bow back and was banned from being on the park, even if fishing. I don't know for how long.

It should cost you more than that, but it is a shame to not be able to hunt on land that we pay to support.

Glad to see the CO's were able to catch them, hope they throw the book at them. Man, what kind of story would they have taken home and told their buddies if they hadn't been caught? Would have been a real challenge to fill a tag, hunting on an SP with TAME DEER.

Yea they would have some good stories to tell. If they would have killed a buck there I am sure it would have been a monster for the ones that have never seen a Twin Falls State Park buck. Oh MY GOD they are the true monsters!!!

One of my stands are near the park boundry and i can believe these guys didnt know where they where.bc alot of the signs have been took down by idiots who live around here.i have been scouting and ended up in the park on accident.i also think if these guys new where they where at they should be fined more then 300 bucks.
